Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) is the lead economic and tourism development agency for the Central Highlands in Queensland, Australia.

We’re a not-for-profit organisation that advocates for a sustainable region and economic growth by:

  • Enhancing the region’s workforce
  • Promoting the Central Highlands as a ‘region of choice’
  • Supporting our region’s businesses

For more than 25 years, CHDC has partnered with industry, business, government andcommunities to drive growth and empower businesses.

Agribusiness
Central Highlands is a major agricultural hub in Qld, producing nearly $1b A. We partner with the agricultural community to drive growth opportunities.

Resources
Located in the heart of the Bowen Basin, the largest coal reserve in AUS with 12 active mines, We collaborate with the resources & METS sectors, promotes local content in projects, & supports the region’s shift toward a lower carbon future.

Business 

With over 3,300 businesses two-thirds owner-operated and one-third in agriculture, We help local businesses build capability, resilience, & competitiveness in a digital economy.

Visitor Economy
Attractions like Carnarvon Gorge, Sapphire Gemfields, & Blackdown Tableland fuel growth in tourism. CHDC supports development of the region as a key visitor destination.
